Travelling > By airplane
- Travelling by air with children is not a problem, and it actually allows you to save money. Airlines usually allow children under 2 years to travel on airliners paying 10% of the fare; older children have a 50% discount.
- With regards to babies, paediatricians do not have unanimous ideas. According to some of them, babies can travel on an airplane since their second week of life, just so you give them to drink during take-off and landing. Others think that it would be better to wait until they are five months old, although there are no contraindications. As to the rest, it is pleasant to travel with small children, because they usually sleep most of the time.
- We suggest you arrive early for your check-in, in order to leave your heavy luggage and have one of the front seats, which are not so noisy and closer to the toilets.
- Avoid the crowd while boarding and leaving the aircraft, wait for the rest of the passengers to leave their seats.
> By ship
- Ships are one of children's favourite ways of travelling: they have lots of space to run and play. Never lose sight of them.
- Most of the shipping companies which travel to Sardinia have baby-areas to play in and changing tables.
- Bring some tablets against seasickness. If the sea is rough, eat dry food and don't drink to much water.
> By car
- The safest place for children is in the back seat, with a regular seat belt.
- The front seat can be used when children are old enough to be correctly wearing the seat belt (usually older than 12).
- If your mobile rings, pull aside and stop before answering.
